Fine dining from the cities of Murcia and Cartagena to the shore of the Mar Menor and the Altiplano in the north

The Michelin Guide is the most highly regarded and longest-lived restaurant and hotel guide in Europe, and every year it includes its selection of the finest and most prestigious restaurants in the Old Continent.

In the Region of Murcia we are fortunate to be able to visit various of those included in a publication which first appeared in 1900 and whose “Michelin stars” have come to be one of the most highly prized accolades for restaurants from Portugal to the far west of Europe. Originally designed as an incentive to stimulate purchases of the tyre brand, it included the Recommended Hotels and Restaurants section in 1923, since when restaurants not actually inside hotels have been added to the list.

Apart from the Michelin stars, and additional, slightly more modern section is the “Bib Gourmand”, which lists high-class eateries which offer menus at under 35 euros in most nations.

Below are the nine Murcia restaurants included in the 2026 guide:

## **2 Michelin Stars**

### **Restaurante La Cabaña, El Palmar (southern outskirts of Murcia**

**![Restaurante La cabaña](https://blog.turismoregiondemurcia.es/hs-fs/hubfs/la%20caba%C3%B1a.jpg?width=879&name=la%20caba%C3%B1a.jpg)**

For fans of haute cuisine, this is a must on any gastronomic tour of the Region of Murcia. Head of the kitchen is Pablo González, who has richly deserved his two Michelin stars. At present the restaurant offers two tasting menus, allowing you to enjoy a range of dishes which combine to make a fantastic dining experience.

Bookings are through the restaurants’ website, [restaurantelacabana.com](https://restaurantecabanabuenavista.com/en/)

## **1 Michelin Star**

## **Frases, in the centre of the city of Murcia**

**![restaurante frases](https://blog.turismoregiondemurcia.es/hs-fs/hubfs/restaurante%20frases.jpg?width=818&height=544&name=restaurante%20frases.jpg)**

The cooking at Frases is based on the traditional dishes of the Region of Murcia, but is reinterpreted in contemporary fashion with a creative and personal touch. The menu shows respect for the well-known dishes from the area but are finished with a fine blend of the past and the present, using local products and landscapes as their inspiration.

### **Magoga, centre of Cartagena**

**![restaurante magoga](https://blog.turismoregiondemurcia.es/hs-fs/hubfs/restaurante%20magoga.jpg?width=2000&name=restaurante%20magoga.jpg)**

Right in the heart of Cartagena, the mission of Magoga is to combine and fuse the sea and the countryside, a mission which is brilliantly achieved by chef María Gómez and her husband Adrián (the wine waiter and front of house). As well as the main menu there is also a tasting menu for those who wish to sample a number of house specialities.

**Almo de Juan Guillamón, centre of the city of Murcia**

![2020-09-02](https://blog.turismoregiondemurcia.es/hs-fs/hubfs/2020-09-02.png?width=809&height=456&name=2020-09-02.png)

Located just 50 metres from the River Segura, this is the personal project of Murcia chef Juan Guillamón, who combines the very latest techniques with tradition in the recipes produced from the kitchen.

The dishes exude both creativity and wonderful tastes in an establishment which originally opened in 2019 under the name of Alma Mater, and the Michelin star was awarded just 3 years later. This is one of the favourite restaurants among gastronomes from both the Region of Murcia and elsewhere in Spain.

### **Barahonda in the countryside of Yecla**

### ![sala restaurante barahonda](https://blog.turismoregiondemurcia.es/hs-fs/hubfs/sala%20restaurante%20barahonda.jpg?width=5315&height=3543&name=sala%20restaurante%20barahonda.jpg)

The restaurant of the Barahonda winery is under 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Yecla and has placed the north of the Region of Murcia firmly on the country’s gastronomic map through its outstanding combination of local produce from the land of the Altiplano and the creativity with which it is prepared.

Here, modern culinary techniques are used to enhance the dishes and to pay tribute to the countryside and the most iconic wineries of the area.

The Michelin star was awarded in 2026, converting Barahonda into an ambassador for the gastronomy of inland Murcia as well as a source of fine wines.

## **Bib Gourmand restaurants**

**Restaurante Perro Limón in the city of Murcia**

Located in the small Plaza de San Juan, a short distance from the northern bank of the River Segura in the centre of Murcia, the first surprise in Perro Limón is the interior décor, and that is soon joined by the food served: a mix of cooking styles which combines Hindu, French and Japanese ingredients and tastes. Head chef is María Crespo.

### **Restaurante Tándem in the city of Murcia**

Another gastronomic highlight in the centre of the city of Murcia is the contemporary Mediterranean cuisine on the menu at Tándem. Top quality produce and served in small portions designed for sharing, the flagship dishes include anchovies with fermented butter and the fig compote, and the menu is constantly evolving as it follows the seasons of the calendar in adapting to the availability of fresh produce.

### **Restaurante Loreto in Jumilla**

The most highly regarded restaurant in Jumilla is renowned for cooking which comes from the soul, as well as the diligent use of technique and locally sourced produce. Also worth mentioning are the attractive prices and the genuine tastes of the north of Murcia, while the accompanying wines are among the finest available bearing the D.O. Jumilla label.
