Hello, adventurers! Today, we especially greet those who seek something more than just simple adventure... we want to take you a little further, to reach the Extraordinary, to encounter Caravaca de la Cruz.
Are you ready to live a story that is not only about walking and admiring landscapes, but also about transformation inside and out? Well, lace up your hiking boots, because we're going to travel the Camino de Levante, a route of nearly 118 kilometers, from Orihuela to Caravaca de la Cruz. Imagine mixing tourism with a touch of personal introspection, where each step connects you more with yourself and the incredible stories that await you along the way. Let's go!
From the first step in Orihuela, the sensation is different. You feel like you're in a movie, also passing by the cathedral of Murcia. And indeed, this stretch is pure fantasy, amidst monuments that seem taken from a history book and corners that take you straight to the past. Let's stroll through ancient churches while imagining the stories hidden within their walls. The route invites you to get lost (in a good way) in its landscapes and local festivities.
Now, we change gears to delve into a Murcian orchard, which looks like a canvas painted in shades of green and earth. This stretch is like an ode to simple life, where each tree and each water channel has its own story. It's like walking through an open-air museum dedicated to nature and the work of our countryside people, whom we admire. And here, each step connects with simplicity, the earth, and with those little things that make life great.
The stage we embark on now raises the level of adrenaline and adventure. We're going to explore badlands that seem from another world and castles that seem taken from a chivalry novel. It's a mix where nature shows us its grandeur and the villages tell us their past legends.
And now things get even more interesting. Walking among vineyards and landscapes that resemble paintings is an experience that takes us to another level. It's as if the vines speak to us of their land, of wine, and of the people who make this miracle possible. It's a stage to savor (literally and figuratively), and in an extrasensory way, it brings us closer to the culture and tradition of the region.
And without realizing it we reach the last stage, where everything feels like the last great effort before victory. This stage is a physical and spiritual challenge, climbing mountains and landscapes full of tall pines and vineyards, passing through incredible places like the Barranco de la Regidora or the old town of Cegehín, declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1982. But what awaits us at the end is really worth it, arriving at the Sanctuary of the Vera Cruz with the unique feeling of “I've made it”, not only physically, but also in an inner journey that has transformed you, that makes those 118 kilometers well worth it.
Weren't we right? The Camino de Levante is one of those adventures that leave a mark on you. You'll realize in the first kilometers that this journey is much more than just putting one foot in front of the other. It's an experience that changes you, challenges you, and fills your archive with stories to tell.
So, are you ready to take the first step?
See you on the road, adventurous friends!
